Come On, Apple Fans, It’s Time To Admit That The Company Is Blowing It

This article argues for more market share for market share’s sake, never mind profit share or user delight. The mindset goes like so:

Phase 1: Collect market share
Phase 2: ???
Phase 3: Profit

Here’s another clip from Business Insider about Tim Cook’s view on market share.

He says that for Apple, “winning has never been about making the most.”

He says Apple makes the best laptops, but doesn’t sell the most. It makes the best MP3 players, but does sell the most. It makes the best tablet, sells the most. It makes the best smartphone, but doesn’t sell the most.

Addressing each of these kinds of posts is like playing whack-a-mole, so I’m not going to post many more.
